Our PDF to Excel converter uses Microsoft MarkItDown, an open-source AI tool from Microsoft. When you upload a PDF, it is sent to our secure Hugging Face API which uses MarkItDown to detect and extract tables from the PDF. The tables are then converted to Markdown format, and finally exported to Excel (XLSX) or CSV using pandas library. Each table becomes a separate sheet in Excel. The process preserves table structure, headers, and data formatting. Perfect for extracting financial tables, data reports, invoices, and any structured data from PDFs.

Yes! Free users can convert 2 PDF files per day (up to 10 pages per file), which resets every 24 hours. SuperAdmin accounts get unlimited conversions. Unlike expensive tools like Adobe Acrobat ($14.99/month) or Nitro PDF ($159/year), we provide genuine free access for everyday users. The conversion happens via our own Hugging Face Space API using Microsoft MarkItDown (open-source), which costs us nothing to run. Pro plan with unlimited pages ($6.99 for 100 pages) is coming soon for users who need to process larger files.

We support PDF files up to 10 pages (free plan). You can export to two formats: (1) Excel (.xlsx) - Creates multiple sheets for multiple tables, preserves formatting, compatible with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc. (2) CSV (.csv) - Universal format, opens in any spreadsheet software, combines all tables into one file. If your PDF has more than 10 pages, please split it into smaller files or wait for our Pro plan launch. We do not support password-protected PDFs - please remove the password before uploading.

Our converter achieves 80-90% accuracy for standard PDF tables. Microsoft MarkItDown excels at detecting table boundaries, headers, and cell content. Best results with: (1) PDFs with clearly defined table borders, (2) Text-based PDFs (not scanned images), (3) Standard table layouts with rows and columns. Some limitations: (1) Merged cells may need manual adjustment, (2) Complex nested tables might be simplified, (3) Scanned PDFs require OCR preprocessing, (4) Hand-drawn or irregular tables may not be detected. For financial reports and invoices with standard table formats, accuracy is typically 95%+.

Your PDFs are processed securely on Hugging Face servers (not our servers). Here is what happens: (1) You upload PDF to our website, (2) We send it to our private Hugging Face Space API, (3) Hugging Face processes the table extraction using Microsoft MarkItDown, (4) You download the Excel/CSV file, (5) All files are automatically deleted after conversion. We do not store, view, or have any access to your files. Hugging Face also does not retain your files. However, do not upload highly sensitive documents (bank statements, tax returns, confidential reports) - use desktop software for those.
