Our PDF to Word converter uses MarkItDown to extract text-based PDF content, then creates an editable DOCX file with headings, paragraphs, lists, and simple tables where possible. It is designed for content extraction, not pixel-perfect layout recreation. The resulting DOCX file can be edited in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, Apple Pages, and other word processors.
Yes. Free users can convert 2 PDF files per day, which resets every 24 hours. SuperAdmin accounts get unlimited conversions. The conversion runs through our Hugging Face Space API. For users who need more than 2 conversions per day, we may introduce a Pro plan in the future.
We support PDF files up to 10MB in size. The output is always a .docx file (Microsoft Word 2007 and later). DOCX files can be opened and edited in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, Apple Pages, and most modern word processors. If your PDF is larger than 10MB, try compressing it first using our PDF compression tool, or split it into smaller files. We currently do not support password-protected PDFs - please remove the password before uploading.
Not always. This tool is best for extracting editable content from text-based PDFs. It can preserve basic structure such as headings, paragraphs, lists, and simple tables, but complex layouts may need manual cleanup. Multi-column designs, exact fonts, headers, footers, vector graphics, and scanned image-only PDFs are not good fits. Scanned PDFs need OCR before conversion.
Your PDFs are processed through our Hugging Face Space API. Here is what happens: (1) you upload a PDF, (2) the API extracts the editable content, (3) you download the DOCX file. We do not keep a document library or manually review uploaded files. For highly sensitive documents such as medical records, legal contracts, or confidential financial files, use trusted desktop software instead.
Yes! The DOCX files are fully editable. After downloading, you can: (1) Edit text, change fonts, and modify formatting in Microsoft Word, (2) Add or remove content, insert comments and track changes, (3) Save as different formats (PDF, RTF, TXT), (4) Share and collaborate with others using Google Docs, (5) Print or email the document. The DOCX format is the industry standard for editable documents, supported by virtually all word processing software across Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.
PDF to Word conversion is incredibly useful for: (1) Editing PDF contracts, proposals, and reports - make changes without recreating from scratch, (2) Reusing PDF content - extract text and images for new documents, (3) Translating PDFs - edit converted Word doc with translation tools, (4) Extracting data from PDF reports - convert tables to Word/Excel for analysis, (5) Creating templates - convert PDF forms to editable Word templates, (6) Academic work - edit research papers and theses in Word, (7) Business documents - modify invoices, quotes, and presentations. This tool saves hours compared to retyping PDF content manually.
This tool is useful when you need a quick editable DOCX from a text-based PDF without installing desktop software. It is free for everyday use, requires no signup for the core workflow, and works well for straightforward text documents. For exact layout reproduction, scanned documents, or confidential work, a dedicated desktop PDF editor is still the better choice.
